This chart shows the arrival time of wintry weather Wednesday.
By afternoon around Lafayette, and into the evening south and east of Indianapolis. There will be some freezing rain and sleet mixed in from late Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday morning. All snow Thursday. Wind will be gusty Wednesday night and Thursday, which could be an issue with ice-coated limbs and power lines. Blowing snow Thursday may be an issue with keeping the roads clear.
The chart below is the Weather Service forecast of final snow totals, which is similar to my thinking.
For listeners/followers in:
LAFAYETTE: 10-18″ snow Wed+Thu
(little ice)
MUNCIE/ANDERSON: 8-12″ snow Wed afternoon+Thu
(about .10″ ice) **12+ around Marion**
INDY+METRO: 6-10″ snow Wed late pm/eve+Thu
(up to .25″ ice)
SOUTH/EAST OF INDY: 4-8″ snow Wed eve+Thu
(up to .25″ ice)
January snow at Indianapolis is the 3rd lowest since records began. Catch up time!
