Showers and storms make for a wet Wednesday in central Indiana. A few storms could be severe later south of Bloomington. Biggest rain totals will be south/east of Indianapolis.
Lafayette had a healthy rain total in May, logging 5.59 inches, about 1 1/2 inches above average. Muncie’s 3.10 inch total was about 1 1/4 inches *below* average. Indy was also below average, at 3.57 inches, compare to an average of 4.75 inches.
Yesterday I looked at Indy May stats, which included rainfall of 3.57 inches, compared to an average of 4.75 inches. We are pretty close when you consider “meteorological spring,” which runs March/April/May. The total there is 11.24 inches, and the average is 12.78 inches. Thirstiest location? Bloomington only reports 1.44 inches of rain in May, a full three inches below average.
