Little throwback pic of me (and my photographer Dave Smiley) at the “Masquerade Ball” I hosted downtown for several years on New Years Eve.
This year I’m writing this just before midnight inside of a tv station as this decade ends. At the end of the last decade I was probably setting up some “Paul Poteet’s Gotta Eat” event and working on other online shenanigans. I had just left daily TV at the moment social media really came alive. In 1999 I was already asleep to be on Channel 6 in the morning in during “ABC 2000.” The network covered the New Year in every time zone…waiting for the ATM machines to fail or whatever. In 1989 I’d probably already put my son Graham in his crib, waiting for Mrs. P to finish up with “Nightbreeze” on the radio and get home.
And in 1979 I was a few months into this career, working at the same radio station with the future Mrs P. We were laughing today about the station ID we were reading the last few days of 1979. “WMEE Fort Wayne welcomes the 80s!”
I welcome the Roaring 20s and I thank you always for following/watching/listening year after year. HAPPY NEW YEAR.
