One…more…time! The Heat Index will be back in the 90s by lunch time today, but the end is still in sight. It all starts with the blue triangles. That represents a cold front crossing the state late this afternoon and early this evening. Behind the front this weekend: a decrease in heat and humidity, especially by Saturday evening and Sunday. With the front today: expect a broken line of storms that could produce prodigious precipitation again, given all the available moisture. Here’s how morning modeling (via WeatherBell) is timing the rain and storms. The sequence is 11am, 2pm, and 5pm. Storms are not expected to be severe in central Indiana, but a marginal risk is in place to the southwest. Rain today should be more widespread than yesterday. The Indy Airport reported just a trace. On the other hand, the Muncie Airport had more rain in an hour (.89″ between 5 and 6pm) than they’d had in total since the middle of July. Other heavy rain totals: 2.35″ near Ellettsville (Monroe County) 2.30″ near New Palestine (Hancock County) 1.18″ near Carmel INDY SEVEN DAY FORECAST Today: Partly to mostly cloudy and humid.
