Well, I’ve made at least one woman happy today. (A bride with an outdoor wedding Saturday.) I don’t see any big rain threat. Although there WILL be moisture. Even if you’re not getting married…you’ll be sweating.
Blame the old (cue the horns if you’re a Johnny Cash fan) Ring Of Fire:
Our surface pattern is evolving to persistent high pressure in the east and southeast US, with a ridge of high pressure building also in the upper atmosphere. At the edges of the ridge, storms are most likely to…well…fire. And any thunderstorm complexes could roll along top of the ridge to the east and southeast. That’s why the biggest severe risk the next few days will be in the northern Plains over into the Great Lakes.
So. What does that mean for us? I suspect our best chances for showers or storms will be this evening and maybe early Friday morning, before the ridge builds northward. I think things may buckle enough for an isolated shower or storm Sunday or Monday afternoon, but even that is unlikely to happen south of Indianapolis.
