This map says a lot. It shows the 7-day precipitation total, up to yesterday:
That persistent bubble of upper air ridging over Indiana has broken down, leading to April Showers today. The Indy Airport measured .18 of an inch by 7am. Short-term computer modeling (via weatherbell.com) points to about another quarter to half-inch today.
A surface cold front will slowly grind through the state today. The best chance of showers this afternoon and evening will probably be east of the front.
Another front follows Friday morning. Rain should diminish by Friday afternoon.
THE STREAK
Indy made it to 80 yesterday. That’s four consecutive 80+ days, the longest streak since Sept 21-25 of last year.
