We have two cats, but Piper isn’t too interested in Studio B. I don’t think Sophie necessarily wanted a media career. It’s just the warmest room in the house because of the electronics, and she liked the heat. (She would also stretch out in the sun on the porch on hot summer days.) We met Sophie about this time in 2001 at the Hamilton Society for Hamilton County. Someone had found her wandering around 116th Street in Fishers. Who knows what led to that. We just know she spent most of the first two weeks at our house hiding under the china cabinet. The vet estimated she was at least two years old. So Sophie lived at least 16 years. She developed some issues three years ago, and we were told the End was near, but she came back. Taking care of Sophie became sort of like owning an older car. We’d take her in for maintenance every 6 or 9 months. Her plumbing would be addressed (I’m sparing you the details) and she was as good as new. She faded again after Christmas, and again we took her in. As always, she seemed to come back strong. That changed a few days ago, and old Sophie finally used up that 9th life today. One less distraction while working. Too bad. ]]>
