Here is my fear, after the last week or so: every time I give the forecast all you hear is this:
This typically cloudy month in Indiana has lived up (down?) to its average. It’s no surprise, then, to discover December temps haven’t gone higher than 48…but haven’t gone lower than 22. No danger of records on either side. Glass Half Full: We are running 1.2 degrees above average for the month. It could be the first above average month since June. But it’s only half way over, and the trend looks colder than average for much of the second half, especially from Christmas through New Years.
Here’s the year so far…compared to average. Chill, dude.
There’s only a trace on the snow board for the month in Indy, but that could also change in the next few days.
The snow cover map this morning…
Looks a lot different than it did on *November* 16. Indy got over two inches, and so far that’s been our biggest event.
We have rain chances today, diminishing in the afternoon. Could see a few flakes mixed in tonight. Snow showers are possible Thursday, and I still think we’ll see a little snow Saturday. No heavy snow is expected.
Rain and snow chances are in the forecast Christmas Eve Eve, and snow chances (again: nothing heavy) are there on Christmas Eve.
INDY ALMANAC
The average high today is 38 and the average low is 24. Records are 65 and -15. The sun rises at 8:00 and sets at 5:22.
