Temperatures and rain will both fall today. And the first weekend of October will free fall into…well…Fall-like temperatures. (BTW when I wrote “free fall” I hope I didn’t sound too Petty.)
The surface cold front will move through during the morning rush hours. There could be some thunder along with the rain before that happens. Showers will diminish from west to east across the state by late morning. Temperatures slowly slide to about 60 degrees by late afternoon.
Rainfall totals were much much higher north and west of Indy. Parke County reported 4 1/2 inches. Good thing they have all those bridges. Three inches was reported near South Bend, where there was some street flooding Downtown.
RAIN TOTALS 8PM Thursday-8AM Friday
2.67″ Terre Haute
2.36″ Lafayette
0.43″ Bloomington
0.21″ Indianapolis
0.16″ Muncie
No severe weather in Indiana, but the strong cold front brought a wind gust of 83 mph to Van Zandt Texas. There were also a couple of tornado reports from around the place where Missouri and Arkansas come together.
A secondary cold front pushes a few more showers through in the late afternoon and early evening hours, so be ready to be chilly and wet if you’re headed to a high school football game. Temps will be around 50 by the end of the game.
WEEKEND:
Typically Autumnal around these parts. A cold breeze will blow Saturday. Clouds will knit together in the afternoon and could produce a few sprinkles or light showers from Indy northward. Another area of low pressure just south of Indy Sunday could bring light showers to central and southern Indiana.
INDY ALMANAC:
The average high today is 70 and the average low is 49. Records are 90 and 27. The sunrise time is 7:43 and it sets at 7:24.
