Back to work, and back to a typical summer story for Indiana weather. A line of storms from overnight will work its way through the state in the morning. It should be around the Lafayette area from about 7-9am, and through Muncie and the metro Indy areas from around 8-10am.
Storms could fire up again Monday afternoon into evening, fed by heat and humidity that will also be around tomorrow. The Storm Prediction Center has all of central Indiana in a slight risk for severe weather today and tonight.
Another organized complex of storms is likely to hit the state overnight tonight into Tuesday morning. A cold front will sag southward tomorrow, moving toward the Ohio River by sunset. That means the severe storm threat will be south of central Indiana by tomorrow, and the rain should push to the south of us by late Tuesday evening. Total rainfall today and tomorrow could exceed an inch.
Still no 90 degree day in Indy this Summer – at least, officially in Indy. And it’s not likely to happen soon. We’ll go back below average on high temps Wednesday through Friday, with another nice drop in humidity. The heat and humidity will return, along with another set of storm chances, next weekend.
