Wednesday’s wet weather started first to the west, where early morning rains of around two inches prompted Flash Flood Warnings from around Terre Haute to Brazil and Spencer. Flash flooding is the most widespread threat today, concentrated in the southern half of the state.
The clouds and rain from the morning will probably extend into early afternoon north and northeast of Indy. Meanwhile, some sun could break out just after lunch, mainly to the south and southeast of Indy. Those are the places where storms could become severe as they fire again by mid-afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center plots the slight risk to the south of a line from just north of Vincennes through Martinsville through Greenwood, then just north of New Castle and Richmond. The biggest threats are damaging wind and large hail, although an isolated tornado is possible.
The whole thing ends quickly tonight, as the front sags southward. It’ll be back with storm chances Saturday night and Sunday. In between: very nice weather Thursday, Friday, and during the day Saturday.
