One day at a time. That’s how long any kind of weather lasts this week so far. Yesterday’s heavy rain is replaced by a decrease in clouds and humidity today, with central Indiana highs in the low to mid 80s. Today will be the tenth consecutive above average temperature day in Indy. A…new…track…record, for this year at least.
However – it only lasts one day. Everything comes together tomorrow to make showers and storms likely. Wednesday could bring damaging winds, large hail, flooding rains, and tornadoes. It could all start after midnight in the western part of the state, if a complex of storms developing to our west today persists as it moves eastward.
Even without sunshine tomorrow the atmosphere looks like it will be unstable, with enough twisting wind to also bring the threat of tornadoes into play. Over two inches of rain could also fall in the heart of central Indiana during the afternoon and early evening, after widespread downpours yesterday.
MONDAY RAINFALL
1.24″ Muncie and Terre Haute
1.03″ Indianapolis
.40″ Bloomington
.31″ Lafayette
The upper air and surface systems shift eastward late Wednesday night, and I still think we are good to go with warm and comfortable weather Thursday through Saturday, and more storm chances Sunday.
