Once again we start a work week with cooler temperature ahead in the forecast, but one big difference this time: no snow is expected through the seven day forecast period. (The last day measurable snow was ever record in Indy was May 9, in 1923. I know – harsh stat for a Monday.)
It will be another warm day, with highs between 75-77 all over central Indiana. Clouds today will eventually lower and thicken ahead of a cold front that moves through Indiana tonight. The shower chance will begin in the southwest part of Indiana this afternoon, spreading into the Indy metro area by mid to late afternoon. Some rain is likely statewide this evening, but the amounts are going to be a quarter-inch or less…maybe a little higher around Lafayette. Some thunder is possible, but nothing severe is expected. The showers should dissipate overnight, and be off to our east by sunrise Tuesday.
Behind that front the sky will be brighter, but the winds will be brisk. Northwest breezes tomorrow could gust up to 30 mph, and highs will once again be below average. There will be some puffy fair weather clouds Tuesday.
Those clouds will clear Tuesday night, and it could get frosty. A ridge of high pressure rolls right across the state, promising clear skies and lighter winds early Wednesday. The Weather Service may be issuing Advisories, especially for southern Indiana, where the growing season is now underway.
The next system first arrives with a warm front Wednesday night, followed by a return to above average temperatures. The best rain chances come ahead of a cold front Thursday night and very early Friday. The coldest air settles in for the weekend, with highs only in the 50s. Saturday will be nice but there’s at least a chance of showers Sunday. C’mon. You weren’t expecting THREE completely nice weekends in a row, were you?
