I haven’t seen any reports of freezing drizzle from overnight. The snow won’t kick in until after morning drive in Indy. The National Weather Service is delaying the start of the Winter Weather Advisory until Noon.
The Advisory covers that area of the state from around Terre Haute to Greenwood to Shelbyville southward. Those locations could see as much as three inches of snow accumulate by sunset. The center of the storm will move out of Missouri in the morning to around Lexington Kentucky by evening.
There will be a very sharp cutoff in totals to the north. About an inch or two of snow is likely through the Indy Metro Area, with around an inch by the time you are up to Lebanon, Noblesville, and Zionsville. Expect less than an inch in Lafayette and Muncie, and around an inch in Richmond.
Snow pauses briefly before returning later Saturday afternoon and evening, with another 1-2 inches possible across all of central Indiana. That could be the last accumulating snow for at least a week. Highs should shoot into the 40s and 50s starting Monday, with some 60s possible by Friday and Saturday.
WIKI-POTEETIA: Yesterday was the warmest day since the first of February. But it still wasn’t warm enough to be above average. Today will be the 13th consecutive day below average. It’s a streak that should stop at Sweet 16. (Did you do the math?)
INDY ALMANAC:
The average high today is 40 and the average low is 24. Records are 65 and -14. The sunrise time is 7:39 and the sun sets at 6:20.
PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION:
Yesterday’s high was 37. My forecast was 36.
