Amounts were smaller to the southeast where sleet and freezing rain mixed in. Some of that freezing rain made it as far north as Indy for a brief period early Wednesday morning. A few snow showers are still possible today, but by this evening yet another Arctic high pressure system will plop down into the Plains. For us: that means dry and very cold weather.
Hey–remember what happened exactly one month ago today? THIS snow storm is different from early January’s history-maker in one important respect. This time the really really cold air holds off longer – which should give road crews a better head start on cleaning up. The thermometer was already down to zero just about six hours after the heavy snow of January 5. This time we should at least hold the upper teens and low to mid 20s, at least until sun down.
There will be more single digit lows tonight, and all of central Indiana will go below zero early Friday morning. A Wind Chill Advisory is already in place for Lafayette over to Frankfort to Kokomo from 5am until Noon Thursday.
A clipper is next on Mother Nature’s hit list, and it could bring 1-3 inches of snow Saturday. There are no high temperatures above freezing expected for at least a week.
