Southwest winds will gust to 30 mph today, but temps will be closer to normal. Enjoy a one-and-a-half-day break from snow. Temperatures today and tomorrow are as warm as they are going to be for about a week. But they still aren’t above average.
But our snow totals definitely are. After yesterday’s snow – this is now the third snowiest January on record in Indy. We are gonna crush the number 2 spot. You think we’ll make it past the famous January ’78?
1… 30.6″ 1978
2… 25.2″ 1996
3… 23.3″ 2014
Season to date total is now 32.2 inches. Another half-inch, and we are in the top 10. Easily done. (The snowiest winter brought 51.0 inches.)
Indy ended up with 2.4 inches of snow Saturday, but I saw several reports of 5-6 inches from Madison County. Unofficial totals:
5.5″ Tipton
5.2″ Elwood
5.0″ Muncie
4.5″ Kokomo
4.0″ Frankfort
4.0″ Rushville
4.0″ Lafayette
3.5″ Cicero
We’ll have more complete numbers later today.
