Stunning sunshine and another delightfully quiet day of weather in our little corner of the Earth. On the Sun – a different story. A geomagnetic storm is in progress, causing interplanetary shock waves, and giving high-latitude sky watchers multiple photo ops. I saw several early morning tweets from Alaska, Canada, and Europe with people posting pictures. I’m attaching a twitter-posted pic from @Jeff Rogerson posted overnight of the Northern lights from NW of Renfrew ON – looking north to Quebec. Could be worth an extra glance to the north again tonight here in the mid-latitudes. You never know. What we do know is the sky will be beautifully blue again today, after another chilly start in the 40s, including a few stray lows in the upper 30s. This is a great weather pattern. Feels like Fall in the morning, but still warm enough in the full sun to feel like Summer in the afternoon. Little changes through Friday, while we add a few degrees daily. Richmond will peak right around 70 today, with low 70s in Muncie and Indy, and low to mid 70s in Lafayette. Expect a few more clouds Saturday, and the arrival of a cold front Sunday bringing rain chances. Monday should be quiet, but right back to rain chances again Tuesday. The weather pattern next week looks to be a bit more active, but still above average with respect to temperatures. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 68 and the average low is 47. Records are 88 and 30. The sun rises at 7:49 and it sets at 7:15. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 70. My forecast was 70. DETAILED INDIANAPOLIS FORECAST: Today: Sunny. High 72.
