Let’s go to the scoreboard: Indy will have the fifth consecutive day of 90+ weather, and the 21st (!) consecutive day of no measurable precipitation. Indianapolis would need to reach 95 to tie a record today. Afternoon heat indices will be into the mid to upper 90s, with the hottest numbers to the west of Indy, closest to the persistent dome of high pressure.
Highs yesterday “only” made it to 86 in Muncie and 89 in Lafayette. No such luck today, with Lafayette hitting 94. Highs in Muncie and Richmond will be right around 90.
That persistent dome does begin breaking down this weekend. Storm chances are finally returning with a couple of weak fronts. A line of storms from the northwest could hit the northern half of the state this evening. Scattered showers and storms are possible Saturday during the day, and again Sunday afternoon and evening. The Sunday evening storms will be connected to a cold front that decreases everything Monday: clouds, temperatures, and humidity. That’ll work!
INDY ALMANAC:
