No new record this morning in Indy. That record is 48, from 1964. This morning’s low was 52. Coolest of the “big” reporting stations? Muncie fell to 45! The low was 46 in South Bend and 48 in both Lafayette and Ft. Wayne. It was 50 in Terre Haute and Bloomington. High pressure is steadily sinking down from Canada. That means it’s closer to us and it also means even more sunshine today compared to yesterday, and a lighter wind compared to yesterday. PEAK TUESDAY GUSTS 29 mph Indianapolis 25 mph Lafayette 24 mph Muncie 23 mph Bloomington Loooooooooong range forecast, anyone? Twitter follower @evansindy wanted to know if our nice summer means a colder winter? So far: the Climate Prediction Center is saying “no.” Much of the U.S. is expected to be above the the OVERALL temperature trend for December through February. That includes Indiana. It doesn’t mean Indiana would be above average every day and that it isn’t going to snow. It does estimate that the average temperature will be above the historical normal for those three months. There is no definite trend with respect to precipitation. Take it with a grain of salt. (You know, like you melt your sidewalk with.) INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 84 and the average low is 65. Records are 94 and 48. The sunrise time is 6:56 and the sun sets at 8:42. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 76.
