Today should be the sixth consecutive day in Indy under 80 degrees. That hasn’t happened since the first half of May. A really big race at IMS also happened in May, and this year’s Brickyard and “500” shared cool starts. The morning low on Race Day in May was 53. The Brickyard morning low s 51, setting a new record. It was even cooler Sunday in some places. The morning low was 48 in Lafayette. Both Terre Haute and Bloomington fell to 49, and Muncie matched the Indy low of 51. A Great Lakes upper level low yesterday sent afternoon clouds into Central Indiana, but that feature is gone today, so the morning sunshine won’t self-destruct. Our attention next turns to a weather maker moving to the south of our area. It will bring rain and storm chances by Tuesday afternoon, lasting through Wednesday. Overall coverage of the precipitation will be higher Wednesday. There are still no days above average in the Seven Day Forecast. The 8-14 Day Outlook – running through August 14th – continues this trend. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 85 and the average low is 66. Records are 100 and 51. The sun rises at 6:42 and it sets at 9:01. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 73. My forecast was 75. DETAILED INDIANAPOLIS FORECAST: Today: Mostly sunny. High 78.
