An inch or two of light snow is possible this afternoon and evening. The best chances for the biggest totals will be southeast of Indy.
Most of the weekend stays dry. Sunday should be the better looking day.
The National Weather Service has released charts showing both the Wednesday snowfall, and Thursday morning snow depth in central Indiana, and I’ve attached them to this story. The maps reflect the big numbers to the south of Indy.

A couple of interesting stats. Even before this week’s latest snow the snow coverage of the lower 48 US States was up to 61.4 percent. It had been WAY down early in the month, but as of Monday it was the highest coverage on that date in a decade.
And remember the Christmas Day tornado in Mobile Alabama? The good news was that no one lost their life from the twister. That means over 185 days have passed between killer tornadoes, and that’s the longest streak in more than 20 years.
WIKI-POTEETIA: So far this season: Evansville’s had more snow (7.7 inches) than South Bend, with 4.3 inches.
INDY ALMANAC:
The average high today is 36 and the average low is 22. Records are 65 and -13. The sunrise time is 8:05 and the sunset comes at 5:29.
