The sky will be brighter and the wind lighter today. High pressure takes the weather wheel for two days, before a storm system moves in from the northwest and stalls out right over the state Friday into the weekend.
Yesterday’s rain maker is long gone, but not until after soaking at least the northern part of Indiana.
TUESDAY TOTALS
.75″ South Bend
.31″ Evansville
.24″ Muncie
.16″ Lafayette
.14″ Indianapolis
.07″ Terre Haute
Even though the Indy high today will still be above average I’m sure it will seem colder. We are coming off six consecutive days of above average temperatures, including almost 30 degrees above average Monday. Expect cold 20’s Thursday morning, but then it will warm back above average through the weekend.
AFTER the weekend: signs of change. The huge upper level low in the Gulf Of Alaska that has been helping to bring in warmer air here is expected to move southeast. It will carve a deep trough into the center of the country.
SOME part of the USA is likely to get snow early next week. Best bet for the moment? One model paints 4-8″ from Kansas to Iowa and 3-5″ in parts of southern Wisconsin. At least a dusting is possible in the northern half of Indiana Monday night and Tuesday morning.
After days and days of significant precipitation and strong wind, the West Coast will finally see an end to the active weather later today. In the meantime, Northern California and Pacific Northwest will continue to see heavy rain, mountain snow and gusty winds, but the activity will begin to taper off Wednesday morning. Check out some of these storm totals from last Tuesday through yesterday!
