Just between you and me: Mister Weatherman’s got it pretty easy for at least a week.
Much of the country is quiet. No rain is forecast here for the next week. We’re not alone. The only big rain today is in Florida, where a cold front is stalling. They’ll be getting temperatures 15 degrees below normal, which seems even worse than our ten degree deficits….until you remember what “normal” is down there. Do the math!
It is above normal today out West. LA should get to 80 degrees. Upper 70s in Phoenix. Even San Fran gets close to 70 today.
Funniest comment about Monday’s snow that I’ve seen online? A guy tweeted me to see if we had now “gotten more snow than all of last season.”
We never made it past a ten-inch total in Indy last year. The normal is 25.9 inches.
In case you’re curious, these are the average monthly snow amounts in Indy:
0.4 inches October
0.7 inches November
6.9 inches December
8.6 inches January
6.5 inches February
2.6 inches March
0.2 inches April
I’m highlighting some different winter weather factoids all this week, because it is Winter Preparedness Week at the National Weather Service.
No big storms around here for at least a week. It looks like another storm (not a super one, just a storm) might form off the east coast, just in time to do some minor “Planes, Trains, And Automobiles” action on some turkey travelers.
The average high today is 53 and the average low is 36. Records are 76 and 11. Sunrise time is 7:29 and the sun is gone by 5:30.
PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION:
Yesterday’s high was 40. The forecast was 42.
