Sunday’s weather story is similar to yesterday, with a few less degrees and a few more clouds. Winds will be brisk again in the midday and afternoon, gusting to 25 mph.
Winds will only get worse the next few days, as central Indiana lives on the Edge – the western edge of the effects of the East Coast super storm. The breeze will gust to 35 mph Monday and 40 mph Tuesday and Wednesday.
Hurricane Sandy’s Sunday position is parallel to the US Southeast coast. At 5am she was about 260 miles south-southeast of Cape Hatteras. The sprawling system is packing 75 mph winds. It will approach the coast of the mid-Atlantic states by Monday night.
Forecasters say tropical storm conditions are spreading over North Carolina’s coastline and gale-force winds should begin being felt along portions of the mid-Atlantic coast later Sunday with higher winds likely after that.
As the storm comes ashore early Tuesday the clouds and bigger breezes will spread westward to our state. Rain showers are possible from Indy eastward Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures may be cold enough to support a few snow showers mixing in Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. BOO!
“Franken-storm” should cause clouds for trick or treaters. Temps will be around 40, and there is a chance of rain showers from Indy eastward.
