There’s no drama in today’s weather – just a dreary drag of drizzle and showers. Friday also features a little fog, and another drop in temperatures.
A large low looms on the satellite shots early Friday morning. This upper air system will sit and spin today just to our north and finally pull away slowly tomorrow to the northeast. There could still be a Saturday morning shower in central Indiana, and those showers could last into early afternoon from around South Bend to Muncie and points northeastward.
Clouds crack everywhere Saturday night, and Sunday’s your fun day in weather-land this weekend.
How much rain today (and early tomorrow?) Maybe another quarter of an inch in Indiana from U.S 31 to the east, and I-70 to the north. Otherwise, up to a tenth of an inch. Indy measured .38 of an inch early Thursday, which puts the October total (so far) at 2.59 inches. The year-to-date number is now up to 32.81 heading into Friday. That means Indianapolis is officially 1.49 inches behind on precipitation for the year.
WIKI-POTEETIA:
That .38″ of rain yesterday may not seem like much, but it’s four times as much rain as fell during the MONTH of June.
So far this month 6 out of 18 days have featured measurable precipitation. Most days of October have been cooler than average – 12 out of 18 in that department.
Will winter be cooler than average? YES!
In Florida!
At least, that’s the word from the the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center. Elsewhere, (including Indiana) there doesn’t appear to be a strong signal for extreme cold, lots of precipitation, or above average temperatures. Of course, merely having an average winter here will seem cold and snowy after LAST winter. I’ve attached the outlooks.
INDY ALMANAC:
The average high today is 64 and the average low is 44. Records are 85 and 25. Sunrise comes at exactly 8:00 and the sun sets at 6:59.
