There is sunlight at the end of our weather tunnel.
After a Wednesday morning still cluttered with some fog and drizzle, at least. The sun may crack the clouds from south to north this afternoon. That lousy low pressure system is finally creeping to the northeast.
Monday and Tuesday were gloom days that added another .25″ and .48″ of rain, respectively to the Indianapolis totals. That makes the year-to-date number 30.95″ – and that’s only 1.71 inches below average.
Little additional precip is expect today, but another shot at showers and storms arrives late Thursday night into Friday. This time it’s from a strong cold front, steered by a burly upper system that will move into the upper Midwest and into Canada this weekend. COLD air is coming with that regime change, and at least a slight shower chance will remain into Saturday.
Our highs from Friday through Monday will only be in the 50s. We haven’t had a four-day stretch like that since the first half of May.
Cold air is already spreading into the Northern Rockies in Montana. Accumulating snow is expected above 3500 feet with almost a foot of snowfall in the higher mountains. A few inches of snow will accumulate in the grassy areas around Cut Bank, Great Falls, and Lewistown.
