One of my default running routes takes my past a golf course. That course looked busier to me Saturday than it has all summer. Can’t blame ya. Low to mid 70s, a few Mare’s Tails in the sky, and low humidity at tee time.
“Mare’s Tails” is a term used to describe wispy cirrus clouds that look like a horse’s tail in the wind. “Colts Tailgaters” are a much heartier breed, but there is a horse connection…
If you are tailgating today, expect plenty of sun for the morning and midday, with a southeast wind less than 10 mph.

Those tails of yesterday were triggered by a disturbance to the south that could still provide a few clouds in the southern third of the state today.
The next big weather deal is a cold front coming through early Tuesday morning. Ahead of the front, Monday night rain with a few rumbles of thunder. Nothing severe is expected, and the forecast is for a quarter to a half inch of rainfall. It might last into some of Tuesday morning, then a chilly northwest breeze will set up shop for the day, and highs will struggle to the mid 60s.
Get used to it. Below normal weather looks to be the wave of the (at least, near) future around here. Tuesday night lows are going to flirt with forty in parts of Indiana. The last time Indy was below 40 was March 27 by the way, and the last below freezing temps goes waaaay back. Remember last winter? Remember that we didn’t have one?
Maybe snow’s on your Christmas wish list this year. Only 99 shopping days left!
