A warmer Wednesday ahead, with temperatures back above average again, where they will stay through the rest of the work week.
OK, we’ve exhausted all weekends and Federal holidays…those taxes are past due! And procrastination IS a part of our weather story today.
I’m now holding the rain chance from the Indianapolis forecast until Friday. Unfortunately, that also drags it into at least the first half of Saturday. I am still expecting a big dip in the weekend numbers.
Today should feature stronger sunshine and a slight uptick in wind speed. Those winds will shift from the east to southeast through the day, in response to a departing high pressure system, and the slow, steady march of the next weather maker to the west of us.
That system brings a chance of showers starting Friday, with the best chance of showers and storms in the afternoon, and rain likely Friday night. There could be some Saturday showers early, and then cooler air wins again. Unprotected tulips could tumble again early Sunday and Monday morning, north and northeast of Indianapolis.
At the moment I am forecasting below normal temperatures Saturday through Monday, and it should be “thisclose” to normal Tuesday. If Tuesday pans out a little cooler..that will be four days below average, and that will tie the longest streak yet this year for below normal numbers.
Speaking of averages, I’ve attached both the 6-10 day, and 8-14 outlooks. Notice Indiana is “average” in the 6-10, which covers Monday through Friday of next week. We then go “above” average in the period of the 25th through the end of the month.
What that means is: after our cool weekend, a big area of heat from the west will gradually move in the second half of the next work week. We have a crack at the 80s again! The arrival may be accompanied by some showers and storms in the second half of next week.
Then, another change, with a pocket of colder air looming for the first half of May, probably knocking Indiana back under average until mid-May, when Mother Nature starts her heat engines again.
BTW: Rainfall looks “below average” overall from now through next month.
