An interesting battle today, between low pressure to the south and high pressure to the north. This won’t be a Ken Burns-length war, however. The high to the north should get the upper hand by this afternoon. That means decreasing cloudiness for central Indiana.
But the morning starts cloudy, with rain fighting to get north of I-70. The surface low makes the trip from Memphis to Nashville today, with Atlanta on its itinerary tomorrow. That means a shower chance Thursday morning from Indy southward. No real danger of thunder, with little instability around.
That high slips southward and sits right over the state Friday. So what does that mean? Clear and cold weather. A Frost Advisory in place for the northern half of the state, excepting Marion county. The Advisory runs 4-9am Friday morning. It appears there will still be enough atmospheric tension between the southern low and this northern high…to create a 10mph stir in our state. That *should* keep frost from being a huge problem.
It will be a few degrees milder Friday night, but still with a chance of patchy frost. We get on the warmer side of the high’s clockwise circulation Saturday. I recommend you do some circulating outside, with a bright blue forecast in the mid 60’s.
There’s still a shower chance very early Easter Sunday, but every run of the computer simulations weakens this wave. Still a slight chance from overnight until late morning Sunday. Another chance Monday, as we kick off a work week of below normal temperatures. Mother Nature looks like she wants to play a little “get-even” for March’s heat streak.
Speaking of normal, starting today the New Normal is 60. The Indianapolis normal high temperature, at least. By the END of this month the normal high is 68. By the way, our ACTUAL average high temperature in March was 67.1 degrees.
Ah, the memories!
Ah, the Masters! Weather’s been lousy so far, and will be again today. Storms downed trees, damaged the grandstand, and washed out Palmer, Nicklaus, and Player yesterday. Showers and storms are likely again today, especially in the afternoon. (Remember that Low heading from Nashville to Atlanta?)
Speaking of sports, and staying a little closer to home, the Reds Opening Day forecast in Cincy is…ok. I think there’s a shower chance this morning, but the afternoon should be dry, with highs in the upper 50’s. The Miami Marlins are also leaving behind shower chances, but highs at South Beach today will be more like the mid 80s.
