You know what’s different about this weekend? The Indy high will go UP on Saturday compared to Sunday. If it seems lately that every weekend begins with colder temperatures that’s because… it has. Last weekend the Saturday high dropped 25 degrees from Friday’s high. The week before the drop was 8. And the week before it was 6. And 10 the week before. And it goes on and on and on, until you reach January 14, the LAST Saturday this year where the high was warmer than the day before. We’re due.
High pressure shifts to the east of the state today, sending the southerly wind flow that will help increase the heat. A frontal system slowly approaches from the west, but it now looks like it won’t spread any showers into the area until late Sunday night. The sky today will be a beautiful Colts Blue again. (That term hasn’t been cut, has it?)
Highs along the PP Network and around the state today:
55 South Bend, 54 Muncie/Marion, 56 Indy/Lafayette/Anderson, 57 Terre Haute, 58 Bloomington, and 59 Evansville.
Next week is solidly above average. The latest 8-14 day outlook was released yesterday and it indicates temperatures WAY above average for Indiana from March 17-23. Precipitation for the period should be average.
TV Note: On this date in 1980 Willard Scott took over the weather gig on the “Today” show on NBC. That was a few cold fronts ago: 32 years!
If Willard could stay on the show another 68 years…someone would announce THAT anniversary on tv, right?
