Here comes the heat! We’ve only made it 40 the last two days, so today’s forecast of 60’s should be a noticeable change. Unfortunately the wind will also be noticeable, gusting away to about 35 mph this afternoon, 25 mph tonight, and 40 mph tonight. That breeze will be coming from the south and won’t switch directions until a cold front passes through sometime late Thursday morning, putting us below average on Friday.
Showers will form in front of the front and should start arriving tomorrow night, peaking Thursday morning. Doesn’t look like heavy rain. Most of central and northern Indiana will get less than half an inch. I think Indy will just deal with rain, not thunder or hail.
Totals might reach an inch in the southern quarter of the state, including areas still reeling along the River. They could hear some thunder with this system, but it doesn’t look to have any severe potential.
Indianapolis only had .7″ of snow early morning Monday. Why was traffic so messed up? Maybe it’s just lack of practice. Snow is so scarce this season EVERY snow is like the first. That paltry .7 of snow? It was the most we’d had since Valentine’s Day! That day brought 1.6 inches. The seasonal total is still under 10 inches, right at 9.8. I don’t see any way of adding accumulation in the near future. Last year’s snowy season didn’t let go until March 30, when 1.5 inches fell, and put us over 37 inches. Then we all took a nap, woke up, and it was Spring. Or something like that.
