Mild weather again today for Metro Indy today, and shower chances are back tonight, especially after midnight into Wednesday. Thunder is possible, and a few storms could be severe in the southern half of the state. Temps will be in the 50’s today, and a warm front arriving later today means we will soar into the mid to upper 60’s tomorrow. A cold front sweeps up behind the mess by Wednesday night, meaning a somewhat cooler Thursday. The next big storm (note to self…tv show idea: “America’s Next Storm!”) rolls out of the southern Plains Friday to the U.P. of Michigan Saturday. Once again the northward track means plain rain for Indiana to finish the work week. Given up on snow yet?
Polling precedes precipitation today in Michigan, where the Primary concern later tonight and tomorrow will be snow and ice. Blame the low that will affect Indiana’s weather also tonight and tomorrow. The center of the storm travels from around Denver this morning to around Minneapolis Wednesday morning. Blizzard and Winter Storm Warnings have been issued for most of South Dakota and portions of southern North Dakota, north central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. A foot of snow could fall, with 35 mph winds reducing visibilities, creating whiteout conditions and causing general grief. Get my drift? Further south, a swath of ice of a quarter inch or more is expected from southeast South Dakota and southern Minnesota, east into southern Michigan.
