Please keep your weather chairs in the upright and locked position through Friday night. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride. Highs will be near 60 today in Bloomington, near 70 in Evansville, and rain will change to potentially heavy snow tonight in South Bend. There’s a slight risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening south of Indianapolis as low pressure comes marching through. Your morning drive in Metro Indy should be quiet, but showers and storms could be around from lunchtime on through the afternoon commute, continuing this evening, before diminishing late tonight.
Behind the low tomorrow, a stiff northwesterly breeze will gust up to 30mph, and highs will stay in the 30’s. Six inches of snow could accumulate near the Indiana/Michigan border by morning rush hour, but here in central Indiana the only snow scene I see is the possibility of a dusting in the late afternoon and early evening just north and northeast of metro Indy, where we will have mixed rain and snow showers. The winds will relax late Friday night. The weekend won’t be as fast-paced. Just cold Saturday, and back to normal Sunday. This would follow the pattern of most of our cold snaps this winter…no more than about two days of below normal temperatures.
