UPDATED TOTALS: The unofficial snow total for Indy is 1.4 inches. That put the seasonal total right at 9 inches. Other early totals: 1.0 inch in Daleville, 1.2 in Brownsburg, and 1.3 in Fishers. From Muncie and Tipton: 1.5 inches. Marshall reported 1.6 inches, and Crawfordsville had 1.7 inches. A couple of reports of two inches in Paragon, Greencastle, and Spencer.
Metro Indy got the expected snow, and some flurries and/or freezing drizzle could linger into the morning drive. Surface temperatures will go back above freezing by lunchtime, with just drizzle on the menu by then. All the light stuff shuts down by the afternoon trip home. Don’t slide into a floral truck this morning.
Those Valentines Day deliveries were complicated five years ago today. Snow that started the day before finally ended late in the morning of February 14, 2007. There was 10 inches on the ground for THAT morning rush hour. I remember having to spend a not-at-all romantic night before Valentines Day in a hotel Downtown so that I wouldn’t have trouble getting on TV in the morning. I’m not sure Mrs. P. bothered to watch that morning:)
Of course, some like it hot on this holiday, and those people were happy two years later, when the February 14, 2009 high hit 58 degrees. Last year we got to 46. This year….well, sometimes you gotta work to keep the fire burning!
Once you fight the traffic today, go ahead and exhale. Relax. (Maybe a romantic bubble bath?) There are no more real wintry threats in the forecast for at least a week.
