In the weather department this week “Normal is the new Normal.” Highs across Indiana today will be in the mid to upper 30’s.
I’m forecasting seasonably cold temperatures, and two dustings of snow. One comes this morning, so be prepared for potentially slippery spots. The next drive time that could be affected would be Friday afternoon. Another cold front clips us then, with more light snow chances into Friday night, and a fresh shot of frigid air for the weekend. Lows in the teens, and highs in the 20’s.
Cold temperatures are back, but big storms aren’t. If you REALLY want winter, take a trip to Tripoli. They had up to three inches of snow, the most ever. Of course, we haven’t had more than two inches at once in Indianapolis this winter. So maybe we’ve just switched. It is also very cold and snowy in Britain. London’s Heathrow airport has just now reopened after being recently shut down by snow. It’s been a harsh winter also in Japan and Alaska. How about -66 in the Yukon recently? Fairbanks has had an unofficial reading of -79. The Alaska state record is -80. It’s the coldest, snowiest winter ever over much of the state.
