Say goodbye to January, and to the Big Breezes for a few days. A cold front moved through Indianapolis overnight. It brought some showers, so your sidewalk may be wet this morning. Winds behind the front shift to the northwest from southwest, but they’ll only be blowing around 5 or 10 mph today.
The next three days at the Village should be the Epicenter Of Weather Awesome. Above normal temperatures, and no rain or snow.
So: where IS the snow? In today’s Star@Sunrise video, I show you. It certainly wasn’t around Indianapolis much last month. The official figures show only 4.4 inches of snow, and never more than 1.2 inches in one day! Only nine days of the month were cooler than average, including the 15th, when the low was 11 degrees, coldest for the month, and the season so far. Highest temp of the month came on the last day of the month. It was 61 yesterday, missing a record by five degrees.
What about the Super Weekend? I think an area of low pressure at the surface will move right across the northern third of the state Sunday, with an upper level low trailing behind it a day later. That means we’ll need at least a chance of precip in the Sunday forecast. Looks like mainly rain, and the best chance for that rain will be Saturday and Saturday Night. There could be a rain/snow mix late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
