Rain is the main thing, possibly starting in drive time this afternoon, and definitely happening tonight through late Thursday afternoon. The rain could mix with freezing rain at time from metro Indy southward, and could mix in with a little snow to the north near Lafayette and Kokomo and Marion. No significant ice or snow accumulations are expected, but there is the possibility of up to another three-quarters of an inch or rain tonight and tomorrow.
We don’t really need it. Indy has measured 2.5 inches of precip already this month, which is ABOVE the average of 2.1 inches, but most of that has arrived as rain or sleet or freezing rain. The Indy SNOW total this month is 3.8 inches, where the normal would be 6.6 inches. For the season we are at 6.3, and the normal total to date would be 14.6. Last year it was 27.8 inches by now, and the Groundhog was already restless.
Speaking of non-traditional meteorologists, Jim Irsay took to Twitter this week to weigh in on Super Bowl weather. I’ll talk about his picks, versus mine, on Thursday and Friday.
