MONDAY MORNING UPDATE:
Indy, Greenwood, Carmel all at 4″ early overnight. Blowing and drifting continues with limited visibility. Advisory extended until 1pm. Most central Indiana totals will end up being 3-6 inches.
SUNDAY EVENING UPDATE:
Totals by late this evening should be generally 2-4 inches across much of the state, with MORE snow possible late this evening AND tomorrow morning wherever the lake effect snow bands set up off of Lake Michigan. That will definitely affect the South Bend area, and could also hit localized spots in north and northeast-central Indiana with ANOTHER 1-3 inches. Travel will be messed up tonight by not only the snow, but increasingly gusty winds limiting visibility. Here is the latest Advisory from the Indy National Weather Service.
SUNDAY MORNING UPDATE:
No huge changes in the central Indiana forecast totals, (scroll down) the Advisory now goes until 7am tomorrow, and until Noon in the areas possibly affected by lake effect snow.
10PM SATURDAY UPDATE:
Arctic front now into central Indiana moving west->east. Stil 40 in Muncie. 32 in the Haute. 20’s over in Ilinois. Heaviest rains now moving north/northeast. Could be a little snow/freezing drizzle overnight. Bigger snow by tomorrow afternoon.
SUNDAY STORM WARNINGS NOW IN CHICAGO, SOUTH BEND. ADVISORY NOW ISSUED FOR CENTRAL INDIANA. WORST TRAVEL THIS WEEKEND: Sunday afternoon through Monday morning in the northern half of Indiana.
Rain will be steady at times today from Saturday midday into early evening. As the front moves out the precip will diminish quickly and cold air will rush in. There may be a quick coating in Central Indiana between late evening and early overnight. Radar will be more quiet Saturday overnight into Sunday morning, although the South Bend area could see an inch or two in that period.
Sunday wind chills hang around zero, and winds could gust as high as 40 mph Sunday afternoon through Monday. ANY snow that falls could blow and drift. Sunday snow totals will be 1-3 inches in the Indy metro area and southward. Two to four inches is possible Indy northward. Some lake effect areas could see 10 inches by Monday morning!
