We had dozens and dozens of funny entries in our contest to ride in the “500” Parade With Paul. Thanks to Hare Chevy for making it happen. The idea was: you would tell us about a time the weather affected your time at the Track, whether on a Race Day, Pole Day, etc.
We narrowed the entries down to seven of the most funny and/or interesting finalists. Then a random drawing (Mrs. P gave me a number between one and seven lol) and the rest is history!
Congrats to our winner Andrea Hughes. Here’s her story.
One May, about 15 years ago when I was in high school, all I wanted was to go to the track for the 500. My parents finally gave in and took me. I’m not someone who normally burns and sunblock wasn’t nearly as trendy back then so I skipped that step by habit. Something I had never experienced however was windburn! By the end of the day, my shoulders were so red and crisp. It only got worse, too. Over the next week, I couldn’t even participate in my diving practices because my arms actually hurt to move them above my head! After about a week, I could begin moving my arms without constant discomfort. The peeling began and then I received my track souvenir….freckles! I had zero freckles on my shoulders before that day so now every time I look at my shoulders I am reminded of the day I actually got to go to the 500 in the month of May.
Here are some of my notes from other finalists, in no particular context haha:
Tracy Ingalls—frat boys peeing
Angie–just for the phrase “stinky poncho”
Ladonna–the camping Tornado story
Lynn–the house roof on fire:)
Cyndi–California girl scared by tornado
Katie–marching in the parade with soaked, see through polyester pants
Stephanie–Got to watch the chick “spider web a windshield”
while attempting to dance on top of a mini van in the rain
Good times. What a Spectacle. What an audience. You guys are fun–thanks, as always, for playing along:)
