I like 2010 so far. I got to be a part of this year’s New Years Eve Masquerade Ball. I’ve emceed events at the Grand Hall of Union Station before, but never in front of a crowd like this. It was a blast.
The event sold out at 1,179 people! That’s over a 30% jump from last year. It means a donation of $2,500 to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association in honor of Lauren Seiders. I was able to have some fun on stage with her Mom & Dad, and line up with Jim the next morning for some much-needed New Years Day coffee at the restaurant.
The entertainment was solid, with two great bands: Forty Percent Steve (named after a previously mathematically correct band lineup summary) and Foster’s Branch.

I think I did as much mingling as announcing–between the two I was hoarse by the time I called it a night/morning and crashed at the Crowne Plaza.
BTW: Me and Mrs. P ate for the first time at the Plaza’s “Pullman Restaurant,” which featured an excellent breakfast. Biscuits & gravy & sunny side up egg together! Happy New Year!
