LATE AFTERNOON UPDATE: Still about 90-thousand without power in the state. The Weather Service reported gusts of up to 70 mph in Morgan, Tippecanoe and Monroe counties. A semitrailer was blown over on Interstate 65 and State Road 28 in Clinton County just before noon.
A wind gust of 67 mph was recorded at Indianapolis International Airport at about 12:20 p.m, and 3.81″ of rain up until 4pm. Radar estimates indicated that as much as 7 inches of rain fell in rural areas of Jackson and Brown counties during the morning hours. Widespread flooding was also reported in the Jackson County community of Reddington and in central and southern Decatur County.
UPDATE: Numerous tweets and messages about fire alarms checking on homes possibly hit by some nasty lightning in the metro area…also lights out and power flickering from same. Six to eight inches of water across some roads downtown Indianapolis. Storm watch until 4pm much of the state, and more will roll through from lunch time through mid-afternoon.
