It wasn’t exactly a Tom Brady season-ending moment, but I didn’t run as far as I wanted today. Too much biking yesterday, too much lingering cold/allergy/sinus stuff, I guess. Those are all my current working alibis. It’s frustrating, because I’ve toyed with the idea of a marathon ths fall, but don’t know if I’ll have the training mileage under my belt in time. If you’re an Indy area runner, I’d like hear from you, via comment, or email, how your training for fall is going.
BTW: if you’re a gadget geek like SOME people are (cough), you can track yourself while you run with your smart phone. Go to gpsed.com to record tracks of your trips anywhere on the Earth from your mobile device with their free software. Tracks are traced on Google Maps (or Google Earth) and stored in an online archive. All you need to start tracking is a mobile device with an internal or external GPS receiver. It’s pretty cool/scary to look at how closely the satellite is tracking your zigs and zags through through parks and parking lots.
Part of the interesting thing about running is the variety. Think about it: it’s the SAME body every time and you run a lot of the same routes, but every time can be different. And it’s all right there In Living Color on a Google Map to puff you up, or beat you down.
