Winter Storm Warning

Evening Update:
A Winter Storm Warning will remain in effect for roughly the southern half of central Indiana…including Indianapolis…through 7 am Monday. 2 to 4 inches of storm total snowfall are expected before the snow ends overnight. Isolated higher amounts are also possible.

Areas south of Bloomington could see some sleet mixed in early in the evening.

It will also be bitterly cold with overnight lows in the teens south and single digits central and north. Wind chills will also fall below zero at most locales with wind chills near -15 degrees in the Lafayette area.

People of Central Indiana should be prepared for hazardous travel conditions lasting through Monday morning. Early ice accumulation from freezing rain in the south could also cause power outages and other difficulties.

4pm update:
NWS now says to only expect 1-2 additional inches in the southern third of the state. Up to an inch around Indy and the I-70 Snow will return south of Lafayette and Kokomo including Indy around 2p. Generally about 2” so far.
. Less than an inch north of there. Southern Indiana mix to all snow by late evening. Storm exits overnight.

The NWS cancels Winter Storm Warning for Boone, Delaware, Hamilton, Madison, Montgomery, and Randolph counties.

11am update:
NWS has canceled Winter Weather Advisory for: Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Tippecanoe, Tipton, & Warren counties. Snow will return south of Lafayette and Kokomo including Indy around 2p. Generally about 2” so far.

10am update:
Snow lightens up in midday for Indy (1.7 so far) b4 becoming heavier again in 2nd 1/2 of pm. Worst may be over in Lafayette -3.5 reported.
