This here’s a tale for all the fellas, try to do what those ladies tell us, music comes on, people start to dance…Tom puts the audience into a trance in the episode of OFF THE CUFF.

Nerds Mount Up! This OFF THE CUFF takes you into the belly of the money-making beast that is “Gen Con Indy,” an annual convention of gamers. One of those gamers is my son Graham. Tom and I and Graham’s wife tag along.

Paul & Tom have some fun with the cats, but not in the creepy, Michael Vick kinda way. Or is it? Enjoy the shocking special effects of episode 4 in the new season of OFF THE CUFF.

Tom and I have worked closely together on OFF THE CUFF for over two years, but sometimes it only seems like 25.  Our negativity with each other on this episode is balanced by some positive Viewer Mail.   Sure, YOU like us.  You don’t work with us.

It didn’t take long for Tom to look around his new home at WZPL and notice Dave Smiley’s Brown Jacket. (He’s very observant, which is a more polite way for me to say obsessive-compulsive.) So he wrote a parody song, and we sang it, and we did some “moves” and people stared while we were taping it all around Indianapolis. Thanks to my old friends at Beef & Boards for the threads, and to the Indianapolis Indians for the part they play in episode #2 of the new season.

Tom Davis and I are excited that OFF THE CUFF is now more easily shared by the 5 or 6 people who actually like it. Visit us in the “z-tv” section of the new wzpl web site. Same bit, different url. Tom Davis and I want you to point your browsers to the next generation wzpl.com (Ryan Seacrest in 3-d!) site when it launches Thursday, July 30th at 5pm. You’ll find OFF THE CUFF on the “Z-TV” player along with all of Smiley’s special moments. The site is media-rich (and so are the station’s owners! badda bing!) and features extensive cross-links to everybody’s blogs and tweets, etc, etc. Oh, and you can also listen to the “radio” from it!

Tom and I tangle with the Closed Captioning Department, and that spells trouble.

With recent iPhone buzz ringing in my ear, I’m reminded of one of my favorite OFF THE CUFF episodes. Tom Davis and I introduced Indiana to the IdoP, which combines a phone, an mp3 player, and….street level doppler radar. I know you join me in saying: “about time!”

People often ask me how the shows come together. We both come up with the ideas and the improvs. (The IdoP is Tom’s.) I make the arrangements when we are shooting at a certain place, or with certain people. And I handle PR. (you know, like blogging about the epi—hey, wait! I’m working right now, right? Dang.) Anyway, Tom does all the visualizing and editing. This particular three-parter does a nice job of showcasing his considerable talent.
