Go ahead. Call it a comeback! After the coolest July on record at Indy – and after a mostly-below-average first half of August…. Summer is back.
Highs should hit the low 80s to around 90 every day until next Thursday, barring any rogue thunderstorm complexes. The hottest temp so far this summer has been 88, and we’ve hit it three times. The last time Indy’s waited this long for a 90 degree day was September 1, 1960. (Technically we never stopped waiting in 2004; there weren’t any.) (Technically, part two: Muncie, Bloomington, Terre Haute, and Evansville have all gotten to 90 a time or two.)
And as for those storm complexes…we should get a break today and tomorrow. Computer modeling is painting the best chance in the northwest part of the state today, and the southwest/south part of the state Sunday. Nonetheless, a juicy air mass is fertile ground for some sudden soakers on a scattered basis Saturday afternoon.
