There will be more sunshine today than yesterday, and temps will continue to run below normal.
The Sunday morning low in Indy was 60, but for all other reporting stations away from the urban heat island the low was in the 50s for the *sixth* day in a row. That’s happening during what is normally the hottest stretch of summer. The average high for Indy peaks at 85 degrees between June 26 and July 29.
Today will be the first day since last Monday that Indy gets into the 80s. We’ve yet to hit 90. There’s only one day in the 7 day forecast that could hig 90, and that’s Tuesday. It will be hot and humid Monday through Wednesday, but that quickly gets pushed away by a cold front that brings showers and storms Wednesday afternoon and evening. Dry weather will follow Thursday through Saturday.
For NASCAR weather watchers: the early word on next Sunday is partly cloudy, a little muggy, and a chance of showers and storms, with a high of 82.
INDY ALMANAC:
The average high today is 85 and the average low is 66. Records are 103 and 49. The sunrise time is 6:34 and it sets at 9:09.
PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION:
Yesterday’s high was 77. My forecast was 79.
