Our wimpy Wednesday weather maker brings spotty, scattered showers today. No heavy rain, no severe weather, but lots of clouds. This will be the eighth consecutive day below 80 in Indianapolis. If that should happen again tomorrow (it’ll be right on the line) it would be the longest streak since April. Number crunching for the last day of the month: Indy is running about 1.5 degrees below average for July. There have only been five days above 90. Bloomington is also running about a degree and a half below normal. The deficit is about two degrees in Richmond. In Lafayette the July deficit is even higher, at 2.8 degrees for the month, and only four 90+ days. July in Muncie has been 2.5 degrees below average, and there have also been four days of 90+ weather. All of central Indiana is below normal with respect to precipitation for July, and it’s worth noting the the US Drought Monitor has now placed the “abnormally dry” label on the east central part of the state, running along I-70 from Greenfield through Richmond. Little precip is expected today, but we could see up to an inch Friday afternoon through Saturday. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 84 and the average low is 66. The records are 98 and 49. The sun rises today at 6:43 and it sets at 8:59. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 74. My forecast was 79. DETAILED INDIANAPOLIS FORECAST: Today: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers.
