The upper level low that spun a web of weekend water of the state is still around today. The Flood Warnings have ended in Shelbyville, after the Highway Garage on the north side of the city measured 3.5 inches of rain in less than three hours. Rain is the biggest threat today, but there may again by some isolated afternoon and early evening thunder. Consider this: yesterday’s .08″ of rain in Indy on the last day of June was just shy of the .09″ the city had the entire month of June 2012. Indianapolis was the only one of the major National Weather Service reporting stations in central Indiana to report below average precip for last month, but it wasn’t too far off the mark. It was also the only one without at least one 90 degree day, but again: not too far off the mark. It got to 89 two times. PRECIP TOTALS IN INCHES: JUNE 2013 vs JUNE 2012 Indianapolis 3.66 (.09 last year) Lafayette 4.27 (.81 last year) Muncie 4.98 (1.64 last year) Terre Haute 8.79 (.23 last year) Bloomington 5.57 (.20 last year) I don’t have the exact data from Richmond yet, but a glance at radar data would put the totals there around 5 inches for June 2012. The first few days of July will continue the cooler trend, with the upper low finally moving to the west by the 4th of July. Another system brings fresh water next weekend. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 85 and the average low is 66. Records are 97 and 48. The sunrise time is 6:21 and the sun sets at 9:17. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 76. My forecast was 76. DETAILED INDIANAPOLIS FORECAST: Today: Mostly cloudy with periods of showers and isolated thunderstorms. High 76. Tonight: Showers and storms likely. Low 62.
