Two travel concerns, one minor, and one major, on the days before and after Christmas.
Rain fell mainly to the south and southeast of Indianapolis in the early morning hours. There is still a chance of light freezing drizzle in the morning hours of Monday. That chance should be confined to the northern third of the state by midday. A few snow showers may fall north and northeast of Indy into this evening. Nothing to shovel today.
Christmas Day itself will be quiet, but a large low pressure system arrives with snow chances by Tuesday evening, when a Winter Storm Watch kicks in. The Watch continues through Wednesday. Latest model runs now paint a little sleet or even rain mixed in from Indy southeastward Tuesday night, which may limit snow totals.
Those totals could range anywhere from three to nine inches by Wednesday night. The heaviest totals are likely to fall northwest of Indianapolis.
