Friday fog at first, but give the windshield wipers the day off. You shouldn’t need them again until next Thursday.
Thursday?
Yep. Not that we need it. September will go into books with twelve days of measurable precipitation, and three of those featured over an inch of rain. This is now the fifth wettest September on record in Indianapolis, with .81″ of an inch falling Thursday morning.
WETTEST SEPTEMBERS:
10.37″ 2003
9.33″ 1926
8.17″ 1896
8.06″ 1989
7.73″ 2012
The Indianapolis airport has experienced a complete reversal of recent rainfall patterns. After a record low rainfall total of 6.98 inches for the four month period of April 1st through July 31st, more than twice this amount has fallen in less than one-half of the time. The rainfall total of 14.24 inches for two month period of August 1st through September 30th is the 5th wettest of record.
The year-to-date total in Indy is now 30.22 inches. That’s only 1.91 below average.
This is the first Friday of the month with no rain threatening high school football, so while you’re laying off the wipers, give the umbrellas some rest also. The one weather wrinkle this weekend will be in the upper levels. It could spell a few clouds Saturday into Saturday night, and a one day dip in temps Sunday.
It’s been just over two weeks since Indy got above 80 degrees. We could get close again by the middle of next week.
